The MOI evaluation framework is a tool specifically designed to assess impact and reflect on current issues related to museums' social impact. The evaluation framework can be used to critically examine a museum's activities and performance and to identify opportunities for further development and increased impact.

Below you will find instructions for the MOI assessment framework in Icelandic, but instructions are also available in other languages such as English, Estonian (Esti), German (deutsch)) and Italian (italiano))
Self-assessment allows museums to identify their own strengths and opportunities for improvement. This is a process that involves examining, analyzing, and improving one's own operations or performance, and creating a shared understanding of the goals and actions the museum sets for itself. The museum evaluates its own operations based on its strategic direction, thereby identifying opportunities for improvement and development.
Here you will find instructions in Icelandic on how to use self-assessment to help museums develop their activities and increase their impact. The rationale for the assessment framework and the different approaches to implementing the process within a museum are reviewed. The framework is also intended to support you as a facilitator in carrying out the self-assessment process. Note that the evaluation framework assumes the museum has defined the areas it wants to have an impact on. These impact goals can be found in its strategic plan, in individual museum policies, or in action plans.
By applying the assessment framework, there is also an opportunity to evaluate the performance of the team. This promotes a shared understanding, shows the status of different areas, and highlights the museum's strengths, its human resources, and its objectives. The evaluation framework can be used in various ways, for example, in strategic planning or when there is high staff turnover, as it promotes a better understanding of the work environment and the status of different projects. The framework can also be useful when a museum wants to change its organizational structure, monitor its activities, or assess progress toward its impact goals.
