In November 2022, a handbook on „Preventive Conservation of Textile Works“ by conservator Þórdís Anna Baldursdóttir was published. The project received a grant from the 2020 main allocation of the Museum Fund.
The manual covers, among other things, the registration, condition monitoring, weaknesses in materials and techniques, handling, packing and finishing, freezing, cleaning, installation, environment, and treatment of textiles in an emergency. Examples are provided of the packaging and installation of textile works, where conditions in storage and exhibition spaces had to be taken into account.
