In 2020, the Minister of Education and Culture, upon receiving a recommendation from the Museum Council, has allocated a total of 234,833,950 kr. from the Museum Fund.

From the main allocation of the collection fund in March 2020, a total of 177,243,000 kr. was awarded.
111 one-year grants totaling 139,543,000 krónur were awarded to 48 grantees.
Also, 13 were awarded Excellence Scholarships  to accredited museums, which is distributed as follows: for the year 2020, kr. 37,700,000 1, for the year 2021 kr. 40,700,000 and for the year 2021 kr. 32,000,000. The total amount for the grant period is 110,400,000 kr. Allocations for the years 2021 and 2022 are subject to the funding of the museum fund.

177 applications were received for one-year grants totaling kr. 275,469,165 and 23 Flagship applications were received for the year 2020 totaling kr. 80,325,500 for the year 2020 and 237,712,100 for the entire funding period 2020–2022.

From the first supplemental appropriation of the museum fund in July 2020, a total of 40,124,000 kr. was awarded to 37 accredited museums to support the enhancement of their professional work.

From the second supplemental allocation of the 2020 museum fund in December, a total of 17,466,950 kr. was awarded to 35 accredited museums.
