Meeting location: Keldur, Rangárvöllum, part of the 2023 fall trip of the museum board, which included visits to the accredited museums The Folk Museum at Skógar and Sagnheimar in Vestmannaeyjar.

Representing the main museums, the following attended the meeting: for the National Gallery of Iceland, Ingibjörg Jóhannsdóttir; for the National Museum of Iceland, Harpa Þórsdóttir. The National Museum of Natural History of Iceland was unable to send a representative.

1. Matter for presentation
- Overview of the council's activities since the last meeting.
- The timeline for the application processes for the 2024 main allocation and the 2023 supplementary allocation was discussed. Applications for the 2024 main allocation will open in mid-September.
- The possibilities for organizing a consultation meeting with the minister, which the council of museums is to arrange pursuant to new amendments to Article 7 of the Museums Act No. 141/2011, were briefly discussed. The following paragraph has now been added to the act: „The Council of Museums shall convene a consultation meeting at least annually with the minister and representatives of the major museums and the professional associations involved in the museums“ work. The Council of Museums shall draw up rules on the procedure for the consultation meeting, the participants, and the agenda, which shall be confirmed by the minister.“
- A meeting with the Minister of Culture about the action plan for the Policy Framework for Museum Work was reported; it was held last June and went well.
2. Matters for Decision
- The 2022 Annual Report of the Museum Council was presented to the council and approved by email following a meeting.
- Two supervisory reports were presented and approved: an evaluation report for the National Gallery of the University of Iceland and a visit report for the Borgarnes Museum of Local History.
3. Other matters
- The matter of a single accredited museum was discussed, and the time for the 226th Council on Museums meeting was set.
