1. Matter for presentation
- Overview of the council's activities since the last meeting.
- The allocation ceremony for the 2024 main allocation of the Museum Fund took place at a festive event with a large crowd at the Safnahús on Tuesday, January 23, following the January meeting of the main museums and the Museum Council. Lilja Alfreðsdóttir, Minister of Culture, awarded the grants to the recipients, and it was well-received that the distribution took place so early in the year.
- Announcement of the transfer of the Board of Trustees' IT information to Umbra.
- A new procedure for grant closeout reports was presented to the meeting.
- Staff from the Council for the Arts reported on the progress of a project on museum response plans, which has begun with the participation of museums in Eyjafjörður: the Hvolur Folk Museum, the Aviation Museum, the Akureyri Museum of Antiquities, the Cultural Center of Þingeyjar, and the Herring Museum. Conservator Nathalie Jacqueminet is leading the project.
2. Matters for Decision
- The 2024 budget was approved, but it was presented for information at the 230th meeting.
3. Other matters
- The National Museum submitted a pruning request from the Cultural Center of Þingeyjar „Request for the scrapping and disposal of six boats“, where the National Museum recommended approving the request from the Cultural Center. The Board of Trustees substantially agrees with the letter and conclusion of the National Museum of Iceland and approves the culling of the artifacts, but the Board of Trustees also requests information from the Cultural Center on how the disposal of the artifacts was reviewed, as well as how the culling will be carried out. Therefore, it is requested that the Thingeyrar Cultural Center not permanently dispose of the artifacts until the Museum Council has received a response regarding the deaccessioning process.
- The meeting time for the 232nd Board of Trustees meeting was set.
Meeting adjourned at. 17:00/TBT
