The meeting was attended on behalf of the main collections: for the National Gallery of Iceland: Ingibjörg Jóhannsdóttir; for the National Museum of Natural History of Iceland: Hilmar Malmquist; for the National Museum of Iceland: Harpa Þórsdóttir.
Staff of the Board of Trustees: Þóra Björk Ólafsdóttir, Executive Director, who writes the minutes, and Klara Þórhallsdóttir.
Ágústa Kristófersdóttir was the guest of the meeting under item 1.2.
1. Matter for presentation
- Overview of the council's activities since the last meeting. Among other things, two symposia were reported on where the council's executive director gave a presentation: one on the grant system for art museums in Iceland and another on RáðStefna, a conference on policies in museum and cultural work. A meeting with the Ministry of Culture and Commerce about the Hague Convention was also reported.
- Ágústa Kristófersdóttir, chair of the Sarp Operating Association and director of the museum collection at the National Museum of Iceland, attended the meeting and introduced the new Sarp, Sarp 2.0, to the council.
- The 2025 budget was presented to the board and will be approved at the next board meeting.
- A report was given on a consultation meeting between the Minister of Culture and professional associations in the museum field, which was held on Tuesday, November 19th. Attending the meeting on behalf of the Minister of Culture were Sigrún Brynja Einarsdóttir, Director General, and Arna Kristín Einarsdóttir, Director of Cultural Affairs, from the Ministry of Culture and Commerce. The minutes of the consultation meeting will be sent to the Museum Board for review and will also be published on the board's website.
- The application deadline for the 2024 supplemental allocation of the museum fund was November 25th, and 76 applications were received from 38 accredited museums totaling 24,860,000 kr.
- Note – Item 1.6 was taken up for discussion after item For approval and team 3. Other issues. The heads of the main museums then left the meeting, and the museum board remained. Applications for the 2024 supplemental allocation were discussed, and a date for the allocation meeting was set.
