Approved between council meetings

On September 26, 2018, the Museum Board approved via email 15 evaluation reports for the 4th round of the Board's monitoring of accredited museums, per item 2.1, which was postponed from the 175th Museum Board meeting.

  • The Museum at Bustarfell
  • The Museum Collection

  • East Iceland Maritime Museum
  • Fishing Museum
  • The Dalarna Regional Museum

  1. Overview of the council's activities since the last meeting.

2. Matters for decision

  1. The appointment of a working group was approved, whose task is to conduct an assessment of the museum accreditation process and the responsibilities of the museums and the Museum Council regarding the accreditation. In addition, it will examine how the accreditation process has worked out for the museums in recent years. The working group shall also submit recommendations on possible ways to improve the process. The working group was appointed as follows: Þóra Björk Ólafsdóttir, Haraldur Þór Egilsson, and Sif Jóhannesdóttir.
  2. The Council of Museums receives the report. In Tune with the Times? Digital Media of Museums for Educational Purposes. Will the report be published in the next few weeks?.
  3. Announcement for the 2019 main allocation from the collections fund has been approved. Applications will open on Monday, October 15, 2018, and the application deadline is November 15, 2018.

3. Other matters

The matter of one accredited museum was discussed. The next museum board meeting, to be held in Akureyri, was discussed.
