  2. The guests at the meeting were Sveinbjörg Sveinsdóttir, CEO of the Sarp Operating Company, and Vala Gunnarsdóttir, Sarp's subject matter expert. They presented Sarp.is and Sarp's internal website to the museum board and answered the board's questions.
  3. Presentation of the focus areas for the next main allocation of the Council of Museums in 2019, for approval at the next Council of Museums meeting.
  4. Approval of extension requests for the use of five grants from the 2016 grant year was presented. Applications from the following parties were granted an extension, with a deadline for submission later this year:
    • The National Committee of the Blue Shield in Iceland
    • East Iceland Museum
    • The Whale Museum in Húsavík
    • Akureyri Museum
    • The Museum of Nature
  5. Letter from the Safnasafnið presented for information.
  6. Draft of the digital media report presented; the final version will be sent for approval before the next meeting. The program for the symposium on the same topic was presented; it will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018.

2. Matters for decision

  1. Utilization reports for 2016 project grants approved. In 2016, 93 project grants were awarded, and according to the Museums Act, grant recipients are required to submit reports on the use of the grants within two years. The deadline for these reports was May 4th. 83 reports have been submitted. One grant was declined, and an extension was granted for the use of funds on 5 grants. Reports for two grants from one museum have not been submitted; the museum was therefore granted a grace period until the fall. The use of funds for one grant is uncertain; it is currently in process.

3. Other matters

No other business.
