The meeting was attended on behalf of the principal collections: For the National Gallery of Iceland: Ingibjörg Jóhannsdóttir; for the National Museum of Natural History of Iceland: Ragnheiður Guðmundsdóttir; for the National Museum of Iceland: Harpa Þórsdóttir.
Staff of the Board of Trustees: Þóra Björk Ólafsdóttir, Executive Director, who writes the minutes, and Klara Þórhallsdóttir.
1. Matter for presentation
- Overview of the council's activities since the last meeting.
- The application deadline for the 2025 main allocation of the museum fund was last November 6. There were 150 one-year applications totaling 336,261,256 kr. from 44 accredited museums and 3 other entities. There were 10 excellence applications from 9 museums, totaling 128,230,000 kr for 3 years, and 51,300,000 kr for 2025.
- A memo regarding a consultation meeting between the Council for the Arts and the Minister of Culture, to be held later in November, was reviewed.
2. Matters for Decision
- Proposal for the rules of the advisory meeting of the Minister of Culture and Commerce and the professional association of the museum sector, as specified in Article 7 of the Museum Act No. 141/2011, was approved.
- Approval of nomination to the Eastland Heritage Board; Elfa Hlín Sigrúnar Pétursdóttir is nominated on behalf of the Museum Board.
- A proposal from the National Museum regarding the deaccessioning of artifacts from the Reykjanesbær Folk Museum was approved.
