The Minister of Culture has allocated funds for the 2022 Museum Fund's main allocation

At the meeting of the Museum Council on February 9, the Council's recommendations on grant applications from the main allocation of the Museum Fund 2022 were approved, in accordance with the provisions of Article 7 of the Museum Act No. 141/2011. Proposals were made to the Minister of Culture on the allocation of grants from the fund, but according to Article 7, Article 22 of the Museum Act, the Minister allocates grants from the Museum Fund after receiving proposals from the Museum Council. The Minister has now decided on the allocation of grants from the fund.

The total grant amount from the main allocation of the Museum Fund 2022 is ISK 135,390,000.

A total of 206,490,000 ISK has been allocated from the museum fund in 2022 through the Excellence Allocations from 20-22 and 21-23.

One-year scholarships There were 94 grants totaling ISK 118,590,000 to 45 beneficiaries.

Excellence Scholarships 2022-2024 to recognized museums there were four in total and are divided as follows: for the year 2022 ISK 16,800,000, for the year 2023 ISK 18,800,000 and for the year 2024 ISK 11,300,000. The total amount for the entire grant period is ISK 46,900,000. Allocations for the years 2023 and 2024 are granted subject to the financing of the museum fund.

Excellence Scholarships 2020-2022 awarded for the year 2022 were 13 in number and the grant amount for the year 2022 is 35,000,000 ISK. Grant awards can be seen here *.

Excellence Scholarships 2021-2023 awarded for the year 2022 were 10 in number and the grant amount for the year 2022 totaled 36,100,000 ISK. Grant awards can be seen here *.

In the main allocation of the Museum Fund 2022, the Fund received a total of 169 applications from 52 parties, from 46 recognized museums in addition to eight other parties. 158 applications were received for one-year grants for a total amount of ISK 272,836,113 and 11 Excellence applications were received for a total amount of ISK 123,336,000 for the entire grant period 2022 – 2024 and for the year 2022 ISK 43,058,000.
