Additional allocation 2018 – continuing education grants to recognized museums 2018

The Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, after receiving the opinion of the Museum Council, has allocated continuing education grants to recognized museums from the additional allocation of the Museum Fund for 2018, a total of ISK 11,512,100.

Two types of grants were awarded, Continuing Education for Museum Employees on the one hand and Courses/Lecturers on the other. Continuing Education for Museum Employees can be used to pursue formal education (for example, through organized courses) or for more informal study trips, such as visits to museums in Iceland and abroad, or as a travel and subsistence grant for museum staff exchanges. The Courses/Lecturers grant type is intended as a grant for courses or lectures within Iceland that could benefit a larger group of museum staff.

This time, 31 recognized museums received a total of 43 continuing education grants, from 80,000 ISK to 300,000 ISK each. 28 grants of the type Continuing Education for Museum Employees were awarded, totaling 7,645,100 ISK, and 15 grants of the type Courses/Lecturers were awarded, totaling 3,867,000 ISK.
