0. Approval and signing of the minutes of the 165th meeting of the Museum Council
1. Presentation case
1.1 Overview of the council's activities since the last meeting. The executive director reported on the status of applications for the museum fund and the results of the third inspection of recognized museums, as well as news on the status of matters at the Garðskagi Regional Museum.
1.2 Deadline for submission Annual Report of Accredited Museums 2017 was last October 31, but the reports are part of the Museums Council's monitoring of recognized museums. 42 museums have submitted and 3 were given a deadline. A report will not be requested from the Music Museum, as the museum has been closed.
1.3 A draft form for the utilization of operating grants has been presented to the council, and the form will be submitted for approval at the next museum council meeting.
2. Matters for decision
2.1 The Museum Council agreed that the fourth and fifth rounds of the Museum Council's monitoring of recognized museums would take place in the first quarter of 2018. These two rounds would include a total of about 14-18 museums.
2.2 The Museum Council agreed that applications for a deferral of the use of grants would henceforth be submitted on a form via the Museum Council's application website.
2.3 Request for a deferral of the use of a grant from the Living Art Museum approved.

2.4 Applications for continuing education grants 2017. The following museum board members handled this item: Ólafur Kvaran, chairman, Anna Sigríður Ólafsdóttir, vice chairman, and Helga Lára Þorsteinsdóttir. Other attendees ended the meeting here due to ineligibility to attend to the matter.
A proposal to allocate project grants in the field of lifelong learning to recognized museums from the additional allocation of the Museum Fund in 2017 has been approved and will be sent to the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports for a final decision. According to the announcement, the proposal was prepared in accordance with the Museum Fund's allocation rules from 18.09.2013 and the Museums Act No. 141/2011.

3. Other issues

The discussion focused on responsible collections and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports' response to the issue presented at the last meeting. This issue will be raised at the next meeting of the Museums Council.
