0. Approval and signing of the minutes of the 166th meeting of the Museum Council
1. Presentation case
1.1 An overview of the council's activities since the last meeting. The executive director reported on, among other things, the ShareCare conference in Denmark, a meeting with the Cultural Council in Stockholm, and meetings of a working group on the educational role of museums.
1.2 The status of applications for the 2018 Museum Fund's main allocation was announced, with the application deadline ending on November 15. The timeline for the evaluation committee was also announced, with the committee expected to submit proposals to the Minister of Education and Culture in early February.
1.3 In early December, continuing education grants from the 2017 Museum Fund's additional allocation were awarded to recognized museums. A total of 35 grants totaling 9,213,700 ISK were awarded to 27 recognized museums, ranging from 28,700 ISK to 300,000 ISK each. 19 grants were awarded of the grant type Continuing education for museum employees, a total of 4,911,700 ISK. and 16 grants were awarded of the type Courses/speakers, a total of 4,302,000 kr.
1.4 The Managing Director spoke about a European collaborative project, Museums of Impact, which the Museum Council has offered to participate in.
1.5 The Minister of Education, Science and Culture approved the Museums Council's proposal from 10 October 2017 on the recognition of museums under the Museums Act No. 141/2011. Based on the Council's proposal, the Minister granted recognition to one museum, the University of Iceland Art Museum.
2. Matters for decision
2.1 The Museum Council agreed to grant Sagnheimar a grace period for the use of the grant.
3. Other issues
There was talk of a system crash at the hosting company 1984, but the Museum Council is doing business there and the council's website was down for a week. All data on the website safnarad.is was saved. Application websites, email and other Museum Council data are hosted elsewhere so the crash did not affect it.
There was no further discussion and the meeting adjourned at 4:00 PM/ÞBÓ
