Museum Council day trip to South Iceland

On November 2nd, museum council on a day trip to the South of Iceland and visited three museums.

First was Árnesingar Regional Museum visited, museum director Lýður Pálsson welcomed the group and gave a summary of the museum's history. The Museum Board was then given the opportunity to tour the magnificent storage facilities of the Árnesinga Museum of Local History, accompanied by Linda Ásdísardóttir and Ragnhildur Sigfúsardóttir.

Fishing Museum in Stokkseyri was then visited. The couple Páll Reynisson, the museum director, and Ragnheiður Ragnarsdóttir spoke about the work of the museum and its premises, and issues of registering museum objects, arranging storage spaces, and caring for museum property were also discussed.

At the end of the field trip, we looked into Árnesingar Art Museum There, the museum director Kristín Scheving welcomed the group. The museum board was given an insight into the storage space and the staff's working conditions, and finally Kristín led the group through the current exhibition, Sum & Disintegration, and spoke about the museum's exciting anniversary year in 2023.
