National Museum of Iceland won the award for Conservation and research center in Hafnarfjörður and Kópavogur, along with Handbook on the preservation of museum collections. It was the assessment of the selection committee that these projects are an important contribution to preservation nationwide. Collaboration and the sharing of knowledge are significant, and the specialized facilities created for the preservation of priceless heritage serve as a model and are a credit to the Icelandic museum community.

The award is presented every other year for outstanding work in the field of museums. The award is presented by the Icelandic National Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and Association of Icelandic Museums and Museum Professionals (FÍSOS)
