The Museum Council is advertising applications for grants from the museum fund in 2014.
The role of the Museum Fund is to support the work of the museums that fall under its jurisdiction. Museums Act No. 141/2011The Museum Council makes a proposal to the Minister of Education and Culture regarding allocations from the fund in accordance with the Museums Act and the Council's allocation rules from September 18, 2013. The amount and number of grants awarded depend on budget allocations and applications.
In order to apply for an operating grant from the Museum Fund, a museum must be a recognized museum in accordance with the Museums Act No. 141/2011; the deadline for applying for recognition in 2013 is November 15.
Museums that receive operating grants from the state budget will not receive operating grants from the museum fund in the same year, but can apply for project grants.
The application deadline is December 15, 2013. Applications should be submitted by completing application form on the Museum Council website: www.safnarad.is. Further information at the Museum Council office.
