Confirmation of articles of association

The Museum Council is now accepting museum charters for approval in accordance with the Museums Act No. 141/2011.

According to Article 10 of the Museums Act No. 141/2011, the museum board's approval of a museum's charter is a condition for a museum to gain recognition under the Museums Act.

However, the museum board's confirmation of the charter does not constitute recognition of the museum.

Confirmation of articles of association

1. The museum's representative (director or chairman of the board) shall send a formal request to the museum council for confirmation of the charter. The request shall be accompanied by two copies of the charter in original, signed by the museum board.

2. If the charter meets the requirements of the museum council, the charter is confirmed in two identical original copies, one of which shall be kept by the museum council and the other by the museum.

3. If the charter does not meet the museum board's requirements, the museum will receive a notification to that effect and information about what needs to be improved if the charter is to receive confirmation from the museum board.

4. If changes are made to a museum's charter, the museum must reapply for confirmation from the museum council.
