Grants to museums according to the Museums Act No. 141/2011

The Museums Council is advertising applications from cultural museums, natural history museums and art museums for grants from the Museum Fund in 2013.

The role of the Museum Fund is to support the work of the museums that fall under its jurisdiction. Museums Act No. 141/2011The Museum Council allocates funds from the fund in accordance with the Museums Act and the Council's allocation rules from 19 July 2010. The amount and number of grants awarded depend on budget allocations and applications.

In order to apply for an operating grant from the Museum Fund, a museum must meet the conditions set out in Article 10 of the Museums Act, including that the museum must have a secured financial basis.

Museums that receive operating grants from the state budget will not receive operating grants from the museum fund in the same year, but can apply for project grants.

Contractual collaborative projects with museums/centers/exhibitions/other activities in the field of museum work will be taken into account when determining operating grants.

Emphasis will be placed on the allocation of project grants.

The application deadline is March 26, 2013. Applications should be submitted by completing the application form on the Museum Council's website: www.safnarad.isAll supporting documents must be submitted before the application deadline.
