New regulation – museums may receive a maximum number of visitors

Effective May 25th

New Regulation No. 587/2021 on restrictions on gatherings will take effect on Tuesday, May 25 and will remain in effect until June 16. Museums will then be allowed to accommodate the maximum number of visitors allowed. Currently, the maximum number is not specified in museum operating licenses, but museums are asked to be reasonable in terms of visitor numbers and proceed with caution.

The mask requirement will be relaxed and will be abolished in shops and workplaces, among other places. Masks are only required at seated events, such as theater performances, cinema screenings, church services, sporting events, and the like. It can therefore be concluded that mask use is not mandatory in museums, but of course museums can set stricter rules if necessary. A mask should be worn if the premises are poorly ventilated or it is not possible to ensure a distance of 2 meters. Museum visitors do not need to be registered.

At events organized by museums, the general 150-person gathering restrictions apply.
