The National Museum of Iceland issued guidelines on volcanic eruption prevention in April 2021 in response to the volcanic eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula. Many museums are located in the area where the effects of an eruption could be significant, and their staff are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these precautions, in addition to other museums in the country being located in high-risk areas with regard to possible volcanic eruptions.
