The University of Iceland Art Museum has been granted the status of a recognized museum.

The Minister of Education, Culture and Sports has considered the Museums Council's proposal from 10 October 2017 on the recognition of museums according to the Museums Act No. 141/2011.

The Minister, at the recommendation of the council, granted recognition to one museum, the Art Museum of the University of Iceland.

The Museum Council is accepting applications for recognition for processing in 2018 until August 31, 2018. Further information about the application process can be obtained from here.
