Minutes of the 15th meeting of the Museum Council, at Lyngás 7, Garðabær,
February 6, 2003, at 9:30 AM.
Attendees were: Margrét Hallgrímsdóttir, Jón Gunnar Ottósson and Ólafur Kvaran. Jóhann Ásmundsson was on the phone, but Gísli Sverrir Árnason was ill and announced his absence.
Auður Sigurðardóttir wrote the minutes.
1. Applications for the position of museum board employee
24 applications were received for the position. MH said it had interviewed four of the five most qualified applicants, but one was abroad.
MH proposed that Rakel Halldórsdóttir be hired as an employee of the museum board.
The unanimous decision of the attendees was to offer the position to Rakel Halldórsdóttir and requested that she be appointed as soon as possible.
2. Proposal for a grant from the museum fund 2003
A list of museums that applied for funding from the Museum Fund was reviewed and their charters examined. It was agreed that an employee would be tasked with preparing a list of museums that meet Article 4 of the Museums Act.
3. Message to the Museum Council
The Westfjords Regional Museum's report was discussed and agreed to postpone it until a new employee takes office.
Presentation from the European Museum Forum and Presentation from the Ministry of Education on Museum Day.
Postponed until a new employee arrives.
4. Museum Council Rules of Procedure 2003-2005
The Museum Council's procedures and allocation rules were approved and sent to the Ministry of Education for presentation and confirmation.
There was no further business and the meeting adjourned at 12:00/AS.
