 1. Issues for discussion and decision:

1.0. Minutes of meeting 113. discussed, postponed until the next meeting.

1.1.  Managing Director's Report:

Museum Council website. The design of the new website was reviewed, minor comments were made on the layout. An application form was discussed, which will be presented at the museum board meeting on August 23rd.

Follow-up on allocation. Decided that the chairman of the Museum Council request a meeting with the Secretary-General and a lawyer at the Ministry of Education and Culture. Draft letter to the ministry prepared. Coordinated museum visitor survey. Museums that wish to can have the survey sent in Icelandic and English and adapt it to their needs. Customs Director's procedures. New procedures for the export of cultural property from the Director of Customs introduced, the rules welcomed. Brown and Rasmussen. Export of cultural property to auction in Denmark, the Executive Director of the Museums Council together with Ólafur Ingi Jónsson, the curator, reviewed the artifacts that were exported from the country and there was nothing that was considered reason to withhold or comment on. The Museums Council preserves records of what was exported but will in the future ask Bruun and Rasmussen to change their procedures and make a better list of what they are seeking to export. Copyright issues. Letter to the Ministry of Education and Culture presented. The situation in Höfn in HornafjörðurMH reported on a visit to Hafnar in Hornafjörður where the removal of artifacts from the Old Store and the closure of the museum's exhibition were discussed. Richard's Museum in Djúpivogur. Decided to postpone discussion of charters until new museum laws have come into effect at the turn of the next year. Student council meeting. The executive director reported on a meeting of the study council of the museology program. Icelandic Museum Day. Decided that the Museum Council will pay for the collected advertisements on the RÚV and that information about the museum program will be collected on the Museum Council's website. The Executive Director will send out press releases regarding the day and follow them up with the media.

1.2 Annual reports of the Museum Council.  Decided to simplify the format of the Museum Board's annual reports and complete reporting by the end of the summer.

1.3 Internship projects presented. Project that Þóra Björk Ólafsdóttir worked on during her internship at the Museum Council was presented. It was decided to offer a discussion of the project as a presentation at the mobile school for collectors in the fall, the Museum Council will pay Þóra's expenses if possible.

2. Papers for discussion and decision.

2.1 Applications for operating grants from the Museum of Icelandic History, the Fishing Museum and the Transportation Museum at Ystafell. Processing of applications postponed until after a meeting between the chairman of the Museum Council and the Ministry of Education and Culture. Applications for project grants from the Reykjavík Art Museum, the Árnesingar Art Museum and the Kópavogur Nature Centre. Applications processed – see separate attachment regarding Museum Council allocations in 2012.

2.2. Confirmation of the charter of the Regional Museum in Görðar, Akranes. Discussion of charters postponed until new museum laws have come into effect at the turn of the year.

2.3 Request for export of tartar samples from the Skagfjordur Museum. Request for comment sent to the National Museum of Iceland and the Icelandic Archaeological Conservation Authority, processed in accordance with comments between meetings.

3. Next meeting and other matters.

Other issues: A statement from the National Gallery of Iceland regarding the temporary export of works by Ásgrím Jónsson and Þórarinn B Þorláksson for exhibition in the Netherlands and Germany. Approved by the museum council and sent to the museum for decision.  Discussion on the preservation of Icelandic films. The matter needs to be examined further.
