The museum magazine Kvistur is out!

The 12th issue of the museum magazine Kvist has now been released. The issue contains a variety of articles about the professional work of museums in Iceland. This year's issue is characterized by reflections on the role of museums in a democratic society at a time when globalization, polarization, and war are rampant in Europe and beyond. It also discusses the merger of museums, which is on the government's agenda, and various ideas have been presented – what significance does this have for the professional work of museums, and what should be considered when merging them? Additionally, it discusses the role of museums within the tourism industry and an interesting survey on the attitudes of museum professionals toward this. The National Gallery of Iceland's exhibition and their research on forged works are covered in the magazine, along with many other interesting articles and interviews.

The editor of the paper is Elfa Hlín Sigrúnar Pétursdóttir, and the editorial board includes Birna María Ásgeirsdóttir, Ingibjörg Hannesardóttir, Sigurjón Baldur Hafsteinsson, and Þorgerður Þorleifsdóttir. Kvist can be purchased at the Student Bookstore, or by contacting the editorial board.

FÍSOS publishes the collection's leaflet Twigs and copies older than one year can be viewed here.
