The Museum Council draws attention to new regulation no. 510/2021 on restrictions on gatherings, which will take effect on Monday, May 10th and will remain in effect until May 26th.
Museums are permitted to receive 75% of maximum number of receiving capacity of each museum and should visitors registered with name, ID number and phone numberFor school visits of children born in 2005 and later, it is sufficient to register class and school the children.
Museum activities are otherwise subject to the same restrictions as other cultural activities. Please note that according to Article 3 of the regulation, the serving of alcohol is prohibited and if a museum cannot comply with the rules on visitor registration, distance restrictions and group formations, the maximum number of people is 50.
- Museums may receive 75% of the maximum number of visitors
- Guests must be registered with their name, ID number and phone number – guests who do not have an Icelandic ID number must be registered with their name and phone number.
- For school visits for children born in 2005 and later, it is sufficient to record the children's grade and school.
- Children born in 2015 and later do not count towards the maximum number or proximity restrictions.
- Masks are mandatory for everyone born in 2005 and older.
- The proximity limit will be two meters between unrelated parties.
- Where social distancing cannot be maintained, the use of a face mask is mandatory.
- It must be ensured that there is no mixing of individuals between compartments, neither in the entrance/exit, toilet facilities, catering or other services, and that the fullest possible infection control measures are observed.
Software protection:
- All shops, public buildings and other indoor places with high levels of human contact should be cleaned as often as possible, especially common contact surfaces.
- The public and employees should be reminded of individual infection prevention measures, such as verbally, through markings or signs.
- Good ventilation should be ensured where there is a lot of human contact and air out regularly.
