Tighter gathering restrictions – 10 people in a compartment in museums, including staff

Valid from March 25th through April 15th, 2021

The Museum Council draws attention to the tighter restrictions on gatherings. New regulation on restrictions on gatherings due to the pandemic took effect on March 25 and is valid until April 15, 2021.

There is now a 10 person limit and please note that children born 2015 and later are considered not included in the maximum number.

The gathering restrictions that apply to museums apply to the whole country as of March 25. The Museum Council is not requiring museums to be open or closed; museums should carefully consider whether they can afford to stay open under these circumstances.

Quantity restrictions:

  • The maximum number of people in the same space is 10 people – this applies to both guests and staff.
  • Children born in 2015 and later are not included in the maximum number – this is a change from the previous regulation.
  • Masks are mandatory for everyone born in 2005 and older.
  • The proximity limit will be two meters between unrelated parties.
  • Where social distancing cannot be maintained, the use of a face mask is mandatory.
  • It must be ensured that there is no mixing of individuals between compartments, neither in the entrance/exit, toilet facilities, catering or other services, and that the fullest possible infection control measures are observed.

Software protection:

  • All shops, public buildings and other indoor places with high levels of human contact should be cleaned as often as possible, especially common contact surfaces.
  • The public and employees should be reminded of individual infection prevention measures, such as verbally, through markings or signs.
  • Good ventilation should be ensured where there is a lot of human contact and air out regularly.
  • Access to hand sanitizer must be ensured for the public and employees at entrances and near surfaces that many people touch, such as touch screens and cash registers.
  • Cleaning and disinfection of surfaces that are touched by many people should be done as often as possible.
  • The public and employees should be reminded of individual infection prevention measures through markings and signs.
