Cultural Heritage Act

New laws passed in parliament

A bill on cultural heritage that has been in the works since 2005 has now become law. The law, along with the new Museums Act that will come into force at the turn of the year, will bring about various changes for museum work and heritage conservation in the country.

In the last days of the 2012 spring session, a bill for the Fine Arts Act also became law, which, among other things, stipulates the role and responsibilities of the National Gallery of Iceland as the main museum.
