Present: Ólafur Kvaran chairman, Guðbrandur Benediktsson and Guðmundur Ingi Gunnlaugsson (substitute for Sigríður Björk Jónsdóttir). Ragna Árnadóttir and Haraldur Þór Egilsson participated in the meeting via teleconferencing. Also Helga Jónsdóttir from Capacent.
Topic of the meeting: Decision on the appointment of the Director of the Museums Council.
a. The chairman began by reviewing the progress of the matter: In collaboration with Capacent staff, all members of the museum council actively participated in the work and decisions throughout the process. It was stated that all attendees were satisfied with the process as a whole.
b. An advertisement for the position was published at the end of September. 44 applications were received, eleven of which met all the requirements according to the advertisement. Six applicants were invited for interviews, two of which performed best and were invited for follow-up interviews.
c. These two candidates were discussed and the attendees gave their opinions. Following this and with reference to the applications and justification (see attached documents), the chairman made a proposal that Ágústa Kristófersdóttir be appointed as the director of the museum council, which was unanimously approved.
d. Subsequently, the chairman and Helga Jónsdóttir were instructed to finalize the matter and notify the relevant parties.
