On the day of preservation, March 15, the second volume of the handbook on the preservation of museum collections is published. The publisher is the National Museum of Iceland in collaboration with the National Archives of Iceland, the National Library of Iceland – University Library, the Art Museum of Iceland and the Natural History Museum of Iceland. The editor of the handbook is Nathalie Jacqueminet, Director of Conservation at the National Museum of Iceland.
The Handbook on the Conservation of Museum Collections is a collaborative project of the main museums in Iceland and the result of collaboration between experts in the field of conservation from these institutions. The term "collections" reflects the diversity found in the country's museums, where collections are diverse: objects, photographs, books and documents.
The Museum Council congratulates the National Museum of Iceland on the publication of the handbook and welcomes the fact that a publication such as this is now available in Icelandic. The handbook is a basic guide to professional handling and the facilities of the collection of recognized museums. The handbook can be found on the Museum Council's website under guidelines for accredited museums.
