Minutes of the 13th meeting of the Museum Council, at Lyngás 7, Garðabær,
January 10, 2003, at 10:30 AM.
Present were: Margrét Hallgrímsdóttir, Ragnheiður H. Þórarinsdóttir, Álfheiður Ingadóttir, Karla Kristjánsdóttir, Sigrún Ásta Jónsdóttir, and Gísli Sverrir Árnason. Auður Sigurðardóttir took the minutes.
The minutes of the 12th meeting were presented and approved.
1. Proposals for the 2003 allocation from the Museum Fund.
The grant proposals for 2003 were reviewed. The chairman of the museum council proposed that for the 2003 allocation from the museum fund, no grants be awarded to those museums that receive funding from the Althingi for operations and projects in the 2003 budget.
A.I. disagreed with the chairman's proposal.
The Council of Museums agreed to request a definition of the term “museum" from the Icelandic National Museum of Natural History.
2. Procedures.
No comments have been received on the draft procedures. It was agreed to reiterate the request for comments to the museum curators. Comments are requested by January 17, 2003, but the procedures were sent to the museum curators on September 24, 2002, with a request for comments.
3. Applications for the new staff member of the Board of Trustees.
Applications will be reviewed between meetings. The goal is to interview the most qualified applicants before the next meeting. The employee will be provided with a workspace on the lower level of Lyngási 7.
4. Other matters.
Discussed the importance of regular attendance by the members of the board of trustees.
Nothing further was brought up. The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 PM.
