Main allocation of the museum fund 2018

The Minister of Education, Culture and Sports has allocated a total of ISK 114,770,000 from the Museum Fund, after receiving the Museum Council's opinion, from the main allocation of the Museum Fund for 2018. 88 project grants were awarded, and their total amount was ISK 90,620,000. A total of 146 project applications were received and the grants awarded ranged from ISK 200,000 to ISK 3.0 million. Thirty-five recognized museums received operating grants from ISK 600,000 to ISK 3.0 million.

The University of Iceland Art Museum has been granted the status of a recognized museum.

The Minister of Education, Science and Culture has considered the proposal of the Museums Council from 10 October 2017 on the recognition of museums according to the Museums Act No. 141/2011. At the proposal of the Council, the Minister granted recognition to one museum, the Art Museum of the University of Iceland.
