The Museum Council’s 2017 Annual Report has been published and is now available on the council’s website. The report was approved at the council’s 171st meeting on March 22. The report reviews the activities of the Museum Council in 2017 and the appendices provide an overview of the allocation from the museum fund that year. The appendices also provide a summary of the operations of recognized museums in 2016. …

Main allocation of the museum fund 2018

The Minister of Education, Culture and Sports has allocated a total of ISK 114,770,000 from the Museum Fund, after receiving the Museum Council's opinion, from the main allocation of the Museum Fund for 2018. 88 project grants were awarded, and their total amount was ISK 90,620,000. A total of 146 project applications were received and the grants awarded ranged from ISK 200,000 to ISK 3.0 million. Thirty-five recognized museums received operating grants from ISK 600,000 to ISK 3.0 million.
