They all share a history of dedicating themselves to museum affairs with great enthusiasm and taking an active part in the museum community. They are: El\u00edn S. Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir, Frosti F. J\u00f3hannesson, Gu\u00f0mundur \u00d3lafsson, and Inga J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><a href=\"https:\/\/safnmenn.is\/2025\/10\/10\/fjorir-nyir-heidursfelagar-fisos\/?fbclid=IwY2xjawNcWsBleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFweUhGNm1FaWIwQkJmU0dLAR4XCK4Avt263FvpJwULo2p-UIWCdrS_dWd4pORyRmtb5NlMu1umzn9ZRmU9mQ_aem_VQT7tPcdMRYacBh8Nca2TQ\">Text taken from the F\u00cdSOS website<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>El\u00edn S. Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir&nbsp;<\/strong>has been running since 1992 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.textile.is\/\">The Museum of Domestic Industry<\/a> The museum was first opened on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the town of Bl\u00f6ndu\u00f3s in 1976. She is the director and also the chairperson of the board of the Folk Art Museum.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El\u00edn has maintained a professional and vigorous work at the Home Industry Museum for decades. She has been behind its development, many interesting exhibitions, projects related to research on crafts, and events in the region. El\u00edn has been particularly adept at bringing artists and scholars to collaborate with the museum and has managed this non-profit organization with great distinction.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Association of Icelandic Collectors and Museum Professionals thanks El\u00edn for her invaluable contribution to the preservation and dissemination of Icelandic domestic arts for decades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Frosti F. J\u00f3hannsson<\/strong>&nbsp;An ethnologist worked at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thjodminjasafn.is\/\">National Museum of Iceland<\/a> for a number of years. There he worked, among other things, on the preparation of an information system. <a href=\"https:\/\/sarpur.is\/\">Sarps<\/a> for several years. Frosti was the first executive director of Rekstrarf\u00e9lag Sarps, which was founded in 2002, and held that position until 2013. He did a tremendous job building the Sarp database, an important registration and dissemination tool. In 2014, the Sarp Operations Association received the Icelandic Museum Awards for the website sarpur.is. Frosti was a founding member of F\u00cdSOS and served on the association's first board of directors, which was elected at its founding meeting in 1981. He began working at the National Museum of Iceland in 1978 and worked there for his entire career until 2018. He was also an editor and the publisher (for six issues) of Lj\u00f3ri, the society's journal, which was published from 1980 to 1991. Gudmundur was a founding member <a href=\"https:\/\/felagfornleifafraedinga.is\/\">Association of Icelandic Archaeologists<\/a> sat on its board for a time, is a founding member of NABO, an interdisciplinary association of archaeologists and related fields, and sat on the council of the Viking Congress for decades. He was a driving force and pioneer in organized archaeological recording in Iceland, as well as in the computerization of the National Museum of Iceland and the digital database for museums, which today is called Sarpur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Association of Icelandic Collectors and Museum Professionals thanks Gudmund for his invaluable contribution to archaeological research and museum work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Inga J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir&nbsp;<\/strong>was a museum director <a href=\"https:\/\/listasafnarnesinga.is\/\">Art Museum of \u00c1rness\u00fdsla<\/a> from 2007 to 2020. She directed the \u00c1rnessingjar Art Museum with great distinction, and under her leadership, the \u00c1rnessingjar Art Museum received<a href=\"https:\/\/safnmenn.is\/2018\/05\/17\/tilnefningar-til-islensku-safnaverdlaunanna-2018\/\"> The Icelandic Museum Awards 2018<\/a> among other things for diverse and ambitious exhibitions, a strong educational program, and active publishing. Inga has served on committees on behalf of F\u00cdSOS for the Icelandic Museum Awards and served as chairperson there. She also served on the board of Sarp, as an alternate member from 2014-15 and secretary from 2018-19.
