Transformation <\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1.1em;\">in museum work and took place from 2nd to 4th October in Akureyri. The professional conference for museum workers is both a forum for discussions about what is most important in museum work, but also an opportunity for further education. At this 36th F\u00cdSOS Travel School, there was<\/span>A varied program is available.<\/p>\n<p>Museum staff are always looking for ways to meet new challenges in an ever-changing society and find ways to ensure public access to cultural heritage. The museum environment has changed dramatically in recent years, including the new reality of technology that is overwhelming in our time. But this also includes new opportunities that need to be explored and understood, for example, how can artificial intelligence be used in museum work? This was one of the topics on the agenda of the Farsk\u00f3linn this time in the numerous talks, workshops, panels and professional groups that were offered. Not to forget the great entertainment and tours of the Akureyri museums.<\/p>\n<p>The main program of the Farsk\u00f3linn took place in Hof and among the first speakers was Dagr\u00fan \u00d3sk J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir, an employee of F\u00cdSOS, with the talk <strong><em>Museum attendance \u2013 what is the vision of museum staff?<\/em><\/strong>There, Dagr\u00fan discussed, among other things, the project <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/safnmenn.is\/2024\/03\/27\/safnasoknin-2024\/\">The 2024 Museum Visit<\/a><\/strong> which concerns how to raise awareness of the important work that is done in museums, and during the year four workshops were held across the country. Sverrir Hei\u00f0ar Dav\u00ed\u00f0sson, a software engineer at Reykjav\u00edk Energy, led the museum visitors in the truth about <strong>artificial intelligence<\/strong> and what the solutions that artificial intelligence could bring to museum work are. <strong>New Sarpur - rush for a new Sarpur<\/strong> \u00c1g\u00fasta Krist\u00f3fersd\u00f3ttir&#039;s lecture, which museum professionals are eagerly inviting to try, was called Inclusion: The Dream and the Reality, and Sigurj\u00f3n Baldur Hafsteinsson, professor of museum studies at the University of Iceland, reflected on the concept of inclusion in his talk Inclusion: The Dream and the Reality.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/safnarad.is\/en\/um-safnarad\/moi-museums-of-impact\/\">MOI \u2013 self-assessment for museums<\/a> <\/strong>was introduced by Kl\u00e1r\u00e1 \u00de\u00f3rhallsd\u00f3ttir, a specialist at the Museum Council, and is a practical tool for museums to conduct self-assessment work and can be found on the Museum Council&#039;s website. <strong>Digital facial recognition of photographs\u00a0<\/strong>is one of the major technological advances that museums can take advantage of, and H\u00f6r\u00f0ur Geirsson, curator of photography at the Akureyri Museum, discussed the possibilities there in the field of photography museums. In the talk <strong>Cloud cities of the future<\/strong> \u00de\u00f3ra Sigr\u00ed\u00f0ur Ing\u00f3lfsd\u00f3ttir, curator of the Icelandic Film Museum, and Gunn\u00fe\u00f3ra Halld\u00f3rsd\u00f3ttir, project manager for preservation, discussed the collection, which is a difficult task to preserve, as the collection spans different technological periods in history that require a variety of solutions. In museums we learn about ourselves, where we come from and what soil we are shaped from.
