Association of Icelandic Museums and Museum Professionals (F\u00cdSOS<\/strong>) has embarked on an interesting and important project entitled Museum Visit 2024. The goal is to draw attention to the important work that museums do and the problems that they face. Museum professionals from every region of the country are invited to the meetings and hThere will be four workshops across the country: in Siglufj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, Egilssta\u00f0ir, Stykkish\u00f3lmur and Reykjav\u00edk.<\/span><\/span>. Two meetings have already taken place, they were in Egilssta\u00f0ir on April 16 and in Siglufj\u00f6r\u00f0ur on April 18. The next meeting is on April 30 in Stykkish\u00f3lmur at the town hall and the last meeting will be on May 2 in Reykjav\u00edk on L\u00e6kjargata at \u00c1rb\u00e6jarsafn.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The meetings are based on <\/span><\/span>discussions where, on the one hand, the importance of<\/span> museums for society, their strengths, opportunities and threats, and on the other hand, what actions can be taken to raise the awareness of different groups about their importance, such as members of parliament, local governments, the public and tourism providers.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Discussions and ideas that arise during the meetings will be compiled and a status report and action plan will be prepared. The results will be presented at the Farsk\u00f3linn and<\/span>\u00a0Subsequently, a museum interest group will be established.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since these are brainstorming sessions, it would be best to get as many people as possible to the meetings, and everyone involved in museum work is welcome.<\/span> It will not be possible to participate via teleconferencing equipment, but adding one electronic meeting is being considered.<\/span><\/p>\n
