The Icelandic Section of ICOM, F\u00cdSOS and the Museum Council are hosting a symposium in anticipation of International Museum Day under the title Museums, Sustainability and Well-being, which is also the theme of Museum Day in 2023. The symposium will be held in the lecture hall of the National Museum of Iceland on Tuesday, May 16, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by light refreshments in the museum's Picture Gallery. The program will include presentations that shed light on various projects and the diverse work of museums to promote increased sustainability and well-being in society.<\/div>\n

13:05 \u2013 Keynote lecture: Museums and well-being.<\/em> Sigurj\u00f3n Baldur Hafsteinsson, professor of museology at the University of Iceland, and Halld\u00f3ra Arnard\u00f3ttir, art historian.<\/p>\n

"This opening talk will discuss the relationship between museums and the concept of well-being. Particular attention will be paid to the research project Inclusive Memory, which, among other things, examines how museums need to consider the well-being of their visitors.<\/em>".<\/p>\n

Every year there is\u00a0International Museum Day<\/a>\u00a0celebrated on May 18th in collaboration\u00a0F\u00cdSOS<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Icelandic Section of ICOM<\/a> with strong support from museum council<\/a> and museums in the country. The aim of the day is to promote and promote museum work in Iceland, and museums are encouraged to hosting events and even free admission on the occasion.<\/span><\/p>\n
