The museum is located in a three-story, completely preserved building on Sk\u00f3lav\u00f6r\u00f0uholt surrounded by an extensive sculpture garden. From an architectural perspective, the Hnitbj\u00f6rg museum building is shrouded in a fairy tale and is a unique gem in the center of Reykjav\u00edk. The museum&#039;s exhibition spaces are spacious and historic. The Einar J\u00f3nsson Art Museum is the first art museum in the country to be opened to the public in its own premises in 1923.
