The museum&#039;s main role is to collect, document and preserve Icelandic films; monitor the return of film material in accordance with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.althingi.is\/lagas\/nuna\/2002020.html\">Act on compulsory donations to museums<\/a>\u00a0and organizes exhibitions of domestic and foreign cinema.
