The purpose of these grants is to strengthen the professional work of the museums and enhance the aspect of lifelong learning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Two types of grants were awarded,\u00a0<strong><em>Lifelong learning<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00a0for museum employees<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0on the one hand and\u00a0<strong><em>Courses\/speakers\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>on the other hand.\u00a0<em>Continuing education for museum employees<\/em> can be used to pursue formal education (for example, through organized courses) or for more informal study trips, such as visits to museums in Iceland and abroad, or as a travel and subsistence grant for museum staff exchanges. The grant type\u00a0<em>Courses\/speakers\u00a0<\/em>is intended as a grant for courses or lectures within Iceland that could benefit a larger group of collectors.<\/p>\n<p>This time, 27 recognized museums received a total of 35 continuing education grants, ranging from 28,700 ISK to 300,000 ISK each. 19 grants of this type\u00a0<em>Continuing education for museum employees <\/em>were awarded<em>, <\/em>total\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 17.6px;\">4,911,700 kr.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17.6px;\">\u00a0and 16 grants were awarded by the type <em>Courses\/speakers<\/em><em>, total\u00a0<\/em>4,302,000 ISK and the total allocation was 9,213,700 ISK.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A list of grants and recipients can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/safnarad.is\/en\/safnasjodur\/uthlutanir-safnasjods\/uthlutun-2017\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, after receiving the opinion of the Museum Council, has allocated continuing education grants from the additional allocation of the Museum Fund to recognized museums in 2017.
