The Icelandic Museum Awards were presented at Bessasta\u00f0ir last Sunday, and it was the \u00deingeyingi Cultural Center that received the award for a new permanent exhibition at the Museum House in H\u00fasav\u00edk.<\/p>\n
The selection committee's comment states:<\/p>\n
The exhibition layout is thoughtful and attractive. The exhibition space is cleverly used so that exhibits and texts arouse the curiosity of visitors. The characteristics of the area and the use of nature are well explained, and text panels contain stories from local people that give a credible picture and shed light on the history of the area in the period 1850-1950. Behind the exhibition lies the conceptual work of a group of individuals who come from various backgrounds and contribute experience in the fields of different disciplines, art and design to the project. This work resulted in a diverse and fresh approach and more perspectives than are often seen in exhibitions of this nature.<\/p>\n
The jury believes that the exhibition Humanity and Nature \u2013 100 Years in \u00deingeyjars\u00fdslar strikes a new and refreshing tone in museum exhibition design.
