The Minister of Education, Culture and Sports has appointed a Museum Council, in accordance with the new Museums Act that came into effect on January 1st.<\/p>\n

The main role of the museum council is to supervise museum activities, work on<\/div>\n
policy on museum work, discussing museum charters and accreditations<\/div>\n
and provide reviews on grant applications from the museum fund.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Museum Council is composed as follows:<\/div>\n
\u00d3lafur Kvaran Chairman, appointed by the Minister of Education and Culture without nomination<\/div>\n
Ragna \u00c1rnad\u00f3ttir, Vice-Chair, appointed by the Minister of Education and Culture without nomination<\/div>\n
Haraldur \u00de\u00f3r Egilsson nominated by the Association of Icelandic Museums and Collectors<\/div>\n
Sigr\u00ed\u00f0ur Bj\u00f6rk J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir nominated by the Association of Icelandic Municipalities<\/div>\n
Gu\u00f0brandur Benediktsson nominated by the Icelandic Section of ICOM, the International Council of Museums<\/div>\n
