The Minister, on the Council&#039;s proposal, granted recognition to 39 museums. The recognized museums are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00c1rnesingar Regional Museum<\/li>\n<li>Borgarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Regional Museum<\/li>\n<li>Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Regional Museum<\/li>\n<li>The H\u00fanvetningar and Strandamanna Regional Museum<\/li>\n<li>Reykjanesb\u00e6r Regional Museum<\/li>\n<li>Skagfjordur Regional Museum<\/li>\n<li>Sn\u00e6fellsnes and Hnappd\u00e6la Regional Museum<\/li>\n<li>Westfjords Regional Museum<\/li>\n<li>G\u00f6\u00f0ur Regional Museum, Akranes<\/li>\n<li>Hvoll Regional Museum, Dalv\u00edk<\/li>\n<li>The Regional Museum in Sk\u00f3gar<\/li>\n<li>Icelandic Aviation Museum<\/li>\n<li>Glj\u00fafrasteinn \u2013 the poet&#039;s house<\/li>\n<li>Reykjavik Botanical Garden<\/li>\n<li>Hafnarborg, the cultural and art center of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur<\/li>\n<li>The Home Industries Museum<\/li>\n<li>Icelandic Design Museum<\/li>\n<li>Icelandic Agricultural Museum ses.<\/li>\n<li>The Icelandic Art Museum<\/li>\n<li>\u00c1rnesingar Art Museum<\/li>\n<li>K\u00f3pavogur Art Museum-Ger\u00f0arsafn<\/li>\n<li>Reykjanesb\u00e6r Art Museum<\/li>\n<li>Reykjavik Art Museum<\/li>\n<li>Reykjavik Photography Museum<\/li>\n<li>Hornafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Cultural Center<\/li>\n<li>\u00deingeyingi Cultural Center<\/li>\n<li>East Iceland Museum<\/li>\n<li>Egils \u00d3lafsson Museum<\/li>\n<li>Reykjavik Museum<\/li>\n<li>Akureyri Museum<\/li>\n<li>K\u00f3pavogur Natural History Museum<\/li>\n<li>The Living Art Museum<\/li>\n<li>Sagnheimar, local history museum<\/li>\n<li>Icelandic Herring Museum ses.<\/li>\n<li>S\u00e6heimar Fish Museum<\/li>\n<li>Icelandic Music Museum<\/li>\n<li>East Iceland Technical Museum<\/li>\n<li>V\u00edkin \u2013 The Maritime Museum in Reykjavik<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Minister&#039;s decision on the recognition of the museum is indefinite, but the Minister may revoke the recognition of a museum upon receipt of a proposal from the Museum Council if the Council finds that the museum no longer meets the conditions for recognition.<\/p>\n<p>Accredited museums must operate in accordance with the provisions of the Museums Act and the conditions of the Regulation on Accreditation of Museums.
