Supervision by the Board of Trustees<\/span><\/h2>\n

According to the Museums Act No. 141\/2011, the Museum Board is tasked with supervising accredited museums that operate under the Museum Board's terms and conditions for the operation of accredited museums.<\/p>\n

The Board of Trustees' oversight of accredited museums is threefold:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Supervision of museum operations<\/a>
    \n<\/strong>This is an annual monitoring that is enforced by accredited collections submitting Annual report of recognized museums<\/em> to the museum board.<\/li>\n
  2. Supervision of museum facilities, museum facilities, preservation of artifacts, and security issues<\/a>
    \n<\/strong>This monitoring takes place every few years and is conducted by the supervisory committee of the council for museums. It is carried out by having accredited museums submit monitoring forms, receiving an evaluation report from the supervisory committee, and finally, a site visit by the supervisory committee.<\/li>\n
  3. Supervision of the registration of artifacts and access to museum collections and exhibitions.<\/a>
    \n<\/strong>Enforced through on-site expert inspections and data as needed. The third part of the monitoring will begin with the follow-up and evaluation of the grants awarded for the 2020 collections registry.<\/li>\n
  4. Monitoring prevention and response planning<\/a><\/strong>The Museum Council guides and assists accredited museums in developing contingency plans, while accredited museums in Iceland are required to work on contingency plans that must be updated annually.<\/li>\n<\/ol>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
