Present: Vilhj\u00e1lmur Bjarnason, Chair, Gunnhildur \u00c1sta Gu\u00f0mundsd\u00f3ttir, Helga L\u00e1ra \u00deorsteinsd\u00f3ttir, Hlynur Hallsson, Inga L\u00e1ra Baldvinsd\u00f3ttir, \u00c1g\u00fasta Krist\u00f3fersd\u00f3ttir (substitute for Margr\u00e9t Hallgr\u00edmsd\u00f3ttir), Harpa \u00de\u00f3rsd\u00f3ttir and \u00de\u00f3ra Bj\u00f6rk \u00d3lafsd\u00f3ttir, Director. Hilmar Malmquist was unable to attend. The meeting was held in Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, as this year's annual trip for the museum board was in Eastfjords.<\/p>\n

1. Presentation case<\/strong><\/h2>\n

  1. Overview of the council's activities since the last meeting.<\/li>\n
  2. The Executive Director reported on the status of digital archiving and records management. The National Archives Council will implement a new records management system in the fall of 2021 and has had a new classification scheme approved by the National Archives of Iceland.<\/li>\n
  3. Strategy for Museum Work \u2013 Action Plan. The Museum Professionals' Institute will host the first workshop on an action plan. See-R\u00e1\u00f0gj\u00f6f will run the workshop, which will be in the familiar format of group work where each group discusses one objective, followed by a discussion and presentation of the groups' findings.<\/li>\n
  4. The next application cycles for the museum fund were discussed: the 2021 supplemental allocation and the 2022 main allocation. The same grant opportunities will be offered in the 2021 supplemental allocation as were available in the 2020 supplemental allocation.<\/li>\n
  5. The procedure for the Board of Museums' Allocation Meeting for the 2021 main allocation was presented. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 13, in Stykkish\u00f3lm at the Museum Workers' Training School.<\/li>\n
  6. One application for museum accreditation was received by the Museum Board this year. The application was presented, and a recommendation for its disposition will be approved at the next Museum Board meeting.<\/li>\n
  7. The Museum Council discussed the response from the Ministry of Education and Culture to the Museum Council's request regarding the revision of the Museums Act.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. A revised visit report for the Design Museum of Iceland was approved.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The council discussed collections of responsibility. Harpa \u00de\u00f3rsd\u00f3ttir reported on the National Gallery of Iceland's strategy day and also spoke about the art donation from \u00cdslandsbanki to the National Gallery of Iceland.<\/p>\n
