Minutes of the 9th meeting of the Board of the Museum, at Lyng\u00e1s 7, Gar\u00f0ab\u00e6r, Present were: Margr\u00e9t Hallgr\u00edmsd\u00f3ttir, Anna Gu\u00f0n\u00fd \u00c1sgeirsd\u00f3ttir, \u00c1lfhei\u00f0ur Ingad\u00f3ttir, J\u00f3n Gunnar Ott\u00f3sson, J\u00f3n\u00edna A. Sanders, Sigr\u00fan \u00c1sta J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir, J\u00f3hann \u00c1smundsson and \u00deorgeir \u00d3lafsson. \u00d3lafur Kvaran and G\u00edsli Sverrir \u00c1rnason excused their absence. Au\u00f0ur Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir took the minutes.<\/p>\n M.H. called a meeting and announced that museum board members and alternates were invited to a meeting once a year for the processing of grants from the 2003 museum fund.<\/p>\n The guest of the meeting was J\u00f3n Bj\u00f6rnsson. He spoke about his tour around the country with the National Monuments Officer regarding the museum policy.<\/p>\n Seven meetings were held with parties connected to the cultural heritage, and the meetings were attended by museum staff, tourism representatives, business development professionals, local government officials, and others. It was approved to permit the export of the samples.<\/p>\n Presentation by Jesse Byock and Phillip Walker dated August 29, 2002, requesting permission to transport artifacts and human remains from an archaeological investigation at Hr\u00edsbr\u00fa in Mosfellsb\u00e6r. Reviews from the State Historic Preservation Office and the National Museum of Iceland were presented. \nApplications for the 2003 museum fund were submitted. Because so many museums have not submitted an application, it was decided to extend the application deadline to September 15, 2002. This will be announced in the Museum List and in the Official Gazette. Please note that applications received after September 15 will not be considered.<\/p>\n
\nA symposium is planned for this spring to mark the 30th anniversary of the Convention on World Cultural and Natural Heritage, and M.H. will cover it at the Museum Educators' Conference on September 11-13.<\/p>\n
\nDraft procedures for the Museum Council will be sent to council members with the next meeting notice, and are also available on the National Museum's website under \"New on the Web.\" Written comments from council members are requested for the next meeting.<\/p>\n
\nThe National Museum has incurred administrative costs for the Museum Council this year. The Board of Trustees approved that the National Museum of Iceland be paid from the museum fund for the administration of the fund for the year 2002, and MH has written a letter to the Ministry of Education requesting that the approved 5% administration fee, kr. 2.9 million, be paid. be paid to the National Museum of Iceland.<\/p>\n
