Minutes of the 20th meeting of the Museum Council, The Learning Center, Sandger\u00f0i,
\n September 18, 2003, at 1:30 PM.<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Present were: Margr\u00e9t Hallgr\u00edmsd\u00f3ttir, J\u00f3n Gunnar Ott\u00f3sson, \u00d3lafur Kvaran, J\u00f3hann \u00c1smundsson, G\u00edsli Sverrir \u00c1rnason, \u00c1lfhei\u00f0ur Ingad\u00f3ttir, Karla Kristj\u00e1nsd\u00f3ttir and Rakel Halld\u00f3rsd\u00f3ttir.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2003 Museum Council field trip was held in Reykjanes on September 18, with a meeting in Sandger\u00f0i on the same day. <\/span><\/p>\n

1. Minutes of the 19th meeting were presented \u2013 signing postponed until the next meeting.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Staff report. The staff member reported on the council's activities since the last meeting. A comment was made regarding the cost in the operating statement for the chairman of the European Museum Forum's visit to the country.\u00a0 In the opinion of the Museum Council, the Ministry of Education should bear this cost. The staff member was instructed to send an invoice to the ministry.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Employee job description and job title. The revised job description was reviewed. The job description was approved with minor changes. It was decided that, in accordance with the job description and the current pay grade, the employee shall hold the title of Executive Director of the Museum Board. <\/span><\/p>\n

4. Report to the Board of Trustees:
\n Jesse Byock's talk on permits for the export of archaeological artifacts for research purposes.
\n It was approved to grant the request. An employee sent a letter to Jesse Byock and the Ministry of Education to that effect, but final approval is given by the ministry in accordance with Section 7 of the Museum Act.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Report on the operations of the Farm Machinery Museum at Hvanneyri. Continued from the discussion at the 19th meeting. It was agreed that the museum would fall under Article 4 of the Museum Act, and a staff member was tasked with sending the museum a letter to that effect. <\/span><\/p>\n

6. The idea by Wim van der Weiden, chairman of the European Museum Forum, for a Museum Council staff member to become the European Museum Forum's representative in Iceland (National Correspondent of the EMF in Iceland). A follow-up to the discussion at the 19th meeting. It was decided to look into the matter further and the decision was postponed.<\/span><\/p>\n

7. Change in the operating model of the Nesstofa Museum. The matter was postponed.<\/span><\/p>\n
